A VGA cable as it is commonly known is a three-row pin 15 pin. VGA stands for video graphics array. It was a graphics standard used by IBM in its early PCs sold in the 1980s today all PCs support VGA, but most of the, use a more advanced system depending on the actual monitor used.
The windows loading screen appears using VGA as it is seen before the computer loads the relevant information about the monitor to use. There is wide range VGA cable available at differing prices. More expensive models offer features such as gold plating on the plugs, or shielding to prevent the individual wires from causing interference.
As a rule of thumb, the difference in picture quality between an extremely cheap VGA cable and an averagely priced one will much more significant than between an averagely priced VGA cable and an expensive one. It’s also worth making sure you buy the shortest cable which meets your needs as this will prevent signal degradation. The computers using VGA cable can also be used with some games consoles, including the Microsoft Xbox 360.
There is a great debate about whether an analog signal such as that carried by a video cable can offer picture quality as good as the digital signal carried through methods as HDMI. It’s better to choose a high rated VGA cable for the computers and is worth trying out without switching your screens for a cheap VGA cable.
